National Aviation Day Pop-Up Program

 

Join us for some fun, high-flying activities related to aviation in honor of National Aviation Day!  Activities include making paper airplanes and straw rockets to take home, flying ping pong balls and toilet paper to test out Bernoulli’s principle, and trying out a NASA inspired Design-Build-Test experiment.

Extra special guests will be joining us to share their passion for flight!

  • The southeast section of the Ninety-Nines!  The Ninety-Nines, Inc., International Organization of Women Pilots, was established in 1929 by 99 female pilots and are represented in all areas of aviation today.  The mission of the Ninety-Nines is to promote the advancement of aviation through education, scholarships, and mutual support.
  • Bell Flight will be on-site with coloring books, balloons, and more! Bell Flight is an aerospace and defense company that engineers and manufactures aircraft for critical solutions in extreme scenarios. Bell is breaking barriers in lifting people to safety across transportation, medical, rescue and military services, and leading the industry in future solutions that are fast, reliable and efficient.
  • Tri-Cities Airport (TRI) will be on-site with coloring books, crayons, and foam airplanes! TRI is your full-service airport serving Northeast Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, Western North Carolina, and Eastern Kentucky. TRI has been a long-time partner of Hands On! Discovery Center and sharing a passion for STEM and aviation science. The partnership includes a dual-field trip option, sister exhibits at both locations, and more.
